Bowie resident Mark Cobb, a former teacher at Cooper Lane Elementary School in Landover Hills, is now facing charges that include coercion and enticement of a child, as well as possession of child pornography, officials say.
According to the indictment, between June 19 and June 25, the teacher allegedly engaged in a texting relationship with a 9-year-old student, during which he allegedly requested and received illicit photos from the student.
During a search of Cobb's home, prosecutors say that they found sexually explicit images and videos of other children and a bag with several pairs of children’s underwear.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, on Sunday, Aug. 25, Cooper Lane Elementary School officials were tipped off about the allegations made against Cobb.
Cobb was arrested on Monday, Aug. 26.
No additional victims at the school have been identified.
If convicted, Cobb faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and up to life for coercion and enticement of a child.
The case remains under investigation.
